The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has urged graduates of the Class of 2025 to be innovators, ethical leaders, and problem-solvers who will uplift communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.
He reminded the graduates that they had been empowered with the requisite knowledge and skills to enable them make positive impact in the society and the world at large, stressing: “We expect you to give back to society.”
He continued: “As you step into the world beyond these walls, remember that your degree is not just a certificate, it’s a key. A key that unlocks doors of opportunities, and inspire others. The journey ahead will challenge you, but it will also reward your courage, resilience, and perseverance. Walk with confidence, think with depth, and live with purpose. Do not allow fear, discouragement, or doubt to hold you back”.
Prof. Denis Aheto said this at the 58th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast, where students who had satisfied all academic requirements were conferred with various degrees.

The 5th session of the graduation had 2,752 graduates from the College of Education Studies, while the 6th session was held for the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences where 1,099 graduated.
During the 7th and 8th sessions, the College of Health and Allied Sciences had 2,041 graduates, with the College of Humanities and Legal Studies graduating 2,041 respectively.
Continuing, he challenged them to embrace boldness and curiosity as their guiding principles, insisting that: “the world awaits your brilliance, your creativity, and your light. Let it shine brightly, without hesitation, and illuminate the path for generations to come.”
Touching on the university’s achievements, Prof. Aheto said the University had been ranked first in Ghana and West Africa for the five consecutive years and placed 11th in Africa in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
He also added that UCC hosted and won the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games 2024, held in January 2025.
