The College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (CANS) has officially launched its 10th Anniversary celebration at the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) Auditorium.
The celebration is themed “A Decade of Excellence in Science, Technology and Agriculture: Honouring our Past and Shaping our Future.”
Speaking at the ceremony, the Provost of CANS, Prof. Moses Jojo Eghan, expressed his joy at marking this important milestone in the College’s history.
“Today, as we look back at our achievements, we can proudly say we are on the right track,” he said.
Prof. Eghan reiterated the College’s commitment to academic advancement, noting, “We remain committed to fostering an environment that promotes innovation, inclusivity, and excellence.”
He further encouraged stakeholders to build on the achievements of the past. “Let us continue to build on the strong foundation that has been established, ensuring that our College remains a beacon of knowledge and a catalyst for change in our University environment,” he concluded.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dennis Worlanyo Aheto who chaired the programme on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong congratulated the College for the milestone and indicated that “We all can testify that this College has been a breeding ground of very important ideas for this University and I can say that on authority”.
Prof. Aheto applauded the College for its accomplishments and encouraged forward-looking thinking.
“As we launch the 10th anniversary of our dear College, we should be reminded that it is not just a reflection on past achievements, but we should use this as an opportunity to also look into the future, the next ten (10) years,” he advised.
He also emphasised the importance of prioritising student welfare, adding, “We need to refocus our attention and make our College more student-friendly.”
A former Provost of CANS, Prof. Samuel Yeboah Mensah, also congratulated the College on the occasion and reflected on its journey.
“I am happy because we have come very far, looking at where we started from. I am glad to see the atmosphere in the room, and that alone is an indication that we have done so well,” he praised.
A Former Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Nelson Buah, also offered a congratulatory message, highlighting the impact of effective leadership. “Today, when I look at CANS, I realise that leadership and teamwork make all the difference,” he remarked.

A key highlight of the launch was the unveiling of the official 10th Anniversary logo. The logo was selected through a design competition featuring seven participants, all of whom received certificates of participation. The top three winners were given cash prizes, with Mr. Ebenezer Boakye emerging as the overall winner, followed by Mr. Emmanuel Eshun Awortwe and Mr. Philip Kiti respectively.
